VM1177 Machining Center

This product is our upgraded version of model 1165, featuring comprehensive structural rigidity and configuration enhancements. It employs H45-wide roller guides, while the Y-axis utilizes four guide rails to meet heavy-load and high-rigidity requirements. Standard equipment includes an internal screw-type chip conveyor, effectively addressing issues with chip removal. We have selected a Taiwan‑made spindle configuration—four spindles at the front and two at the rear—to satisfy demanding heavy‑cutting applications. A wide range of optional features is available to cater to diverse user needs, including BT50 spindles, center‑through coolant, oil‑cooling units, automatic top doors, mist‑collection systems, front and rear coolant tanks, and chain‑ or scraper‑type chip conveyors. Target markets include mold machining, automotive components, communication‑related cavities, and hardware parts, among others. The standard control system is Mitsubishi’s M80B; for mold machining, we recommend the M80A option. Fanuc 0i-MF Plus comes pre‑configured with a Type 5 control system, but for mold‑related operations, we suggest using either Type 1 or Type 3. Siemens machines equipped with the 828D require additional functional activation to enable full mold‑processing capabilities.

Product details

1. The castings are designed and subjected to finite element analysis, achieving optimal structural rigidity. All three axes are equipped with precision‑grade ball screws and linear guides; the Y‑axis further enhances load‑carrying stiffness by incorporating four roller guide rails. Each axis is assembled using precision scraping and lapping techniques, complemented by laser interferometry for pitch‑error compensation, thereby further improving positioning accuracy. In terms of cutting rigidity, we select top‑tier Taiwanese spindle brands and employ large‑diameter spindles with multiple bearings to meet the high‑rigidity cutting requirements of mold machining.

2. It features a fully enclosed protective design for enhanced safety, with an internal twin‑screw chip removal system that efficiently discharges chips. The double‑door configuration provides a wider opening, facilitating the handling of extra‑large workpieces. Optionally, the top can be equipped with an automatic door, an oil‑mist collector, and a pre‑installed four‑axis interface to meet users’ requirements for automated loading and unloading.

3. All castings are made from HT300 high-grade cast iron and undergo natural aging followed by two stages of artificial aging, thoroughly eliminating internal stresses to ensure the long-term stability of machine tool accuracy.

4. The Z-axis employs a counterweight‑free design and features an enlarged servo axis, enabling high‑speed rapid traverses. Paired with a Taiwan‑made disc‑type tool magazine that pre‑loads tools, this configuration effectively reduces non‑cutting time and significantly boosts production efficiency.

5. The total machine weight reaches 9.5 tons.

FAQ

Q

How to Select Cutting Tools Appropriately Based on Different Machining Operations

+

A

Machining centers can perform a variety of operations, but different machining processes require different types of cutting tools. The general principles for tool selection should be: ease of installation and adjustment, good rigidity, and high durability and precision. Provided that machining requirements are met, shorter shanks should be chosen to enhance tool‑holding rigidity. When selecting tools, ensure that their dimensions are compatible with the surface geometry of the workpiece being machined.
When machining the peripheral contours of planar parts, it is recommended to use end mills.
When milling flat surfaces, it is recommended to use carbide-insert milling cutters.
When roughing—i.e., machining the blank’s surface—it is recommended to use a corn‑shaped end mill with a carbide insert.
Selecting the appropriate cutting tool is essential to achieving precise, seamless machining and preventing process deviations caused by unsuitable tools, which can lead to tool collisions.

Q

In summer, the weather is so hot—why can’t we open the CNC cabinet to allow it to dissipate heat?

+

A

In summer, to enable the CNC system to operate continuously under heavy load, some people open the CNC cabinet door to improve heat dissipation. Is this approach advisable?
The air in machining workshops typically contains oil mist, dust, and even metal particles. If these contaminants settle on the circuit boards or electronic components within a CNC system, they can reduce the insulation resistance between components and may even cause damage to the components and circuit boards.
Opening the doors of CNC cabinets to dissipate heat will ultimately accelerate the deterioration of the CNC system. Therefore, during extremely hot summer weather, it is advisable to minimize opening the doors of both the CNC cabinet and the high-voltage electrical cabinet. So, how should a CNC system be maintained?
